The Review:
Opened by Brian Felten, who runs the kitchen at TomKen's in West Allis, The Neighborhood Draft shares some DNA with its West Allis sibling, including a few familiar wing flavors that longtime TomKen's fans will recognize. But this isn't TomKen's 2.0. From the atmosphere to the menu, Neighborhood Draft has very much carved out its own identity since opening in late 2019. This visit marked our first return for wings since the early days of 2020. It was actually one of our last reviews before 2020 went totally sideways. It had been way too long since we'd stopped in, so we figured it was time for a long overdue revisit.
Neighborhood Draft serves wings in orders of ten, with one sauce per order. They also tend to rotate flavors, so your experience may differ from ours depending on when you visit. The wings themselves are fried, sauced, and then finished on the grill. The result is flavorful chicken with a bit of char and chew. If you're someone who loves a super crispy fried wing, this style may not be your favorite. The grilling process takes away some of that crunch and occasionally leaves a few wings a touch drier than I'd prefer. That said, the chicken itself was still flavorful throughout and clearly prepared with care. The Neighborhood Draft does not have a wing special, and an order of 10 wings will run you $15. As always, prices/availability of menu items/prices and/or specials are subject to change at the sole discretion of the bar without the knowledge of Milwaukeewings.com and may not be updated accordingly.
As for the sauce options on our visit, they are listed below. As noted, these may rotate, so your experience may vary. If you frequent TomKen's, you'll note you'll find some of those flavors over there too!

Not So Friendly Fried - Sriracha, Pork Lard, Peppers
Buff Garlic - Roasted Garlic Buffalo
For the Love of Tajin - Lime, Cayenne, Tajin
Greek Freak - Buffalo, Greek Yogurt, Feta
Welcome to Flavortown!!! - Buff Garlic, Lemon Pepper
JB3 - Bourbon, Brown Sugar, Jerk, Buffalo
What's Your Poblano Man? - Roasted Garlic Buffalo, Poblano Pepper
Cholula BAM BAM!!! - Bourbon, Honey, Bayou, Cayenne, Cholula
Thrilla in Manilla Mangoes - Manilla Mangoes, Coconut Milk, Sweet Chilis Habanero, Buffalo
General Tso's - Hoisin, Soy, Sesame, Crushed Pepper served with Wasabi Bleu Cheese
Sweet Chili Giner Lime
Charo - Tropical Dry Rub
Honey BBQ
While it isn't the largest selection by any means, you'll be hard pressed to find a list with that much creativity and variety. Seriously, it might be the most creative and inspired list of wing flavors you'll find. Notes on the sauces I was able to experience below:
Cholula Bam Bam!! - This was the hottest sauce on the menu during our visit, featuring bourbon, honey, bayou seasoning, cayenne, and Cholula. As someone who puts Cholula on his breakfast sandwiches daily, the flavor profile was immediately recognizable. The familiar Cholula spices came through nicely, while the honey and bourbon added sweetness and the cayenne bumped the heat up several notches beyond what you'd get from the bottled sauce. Pleasantly spicy without becoming painful.
What's Your Poblano Man? - My favorite wing of the night. Described as a roasted garlic buffalo with poblano peppers, this sauce absolutely delivered. Whether I could specifically identify the poblano or not, the roasted garlic came through loud and clear. Garlicky, tangy, slightly earthy, and packed with flavor. This is the kind of sauce that makes you angry when there are no wings left.
General Tso's - Ross ordered these, and I was glad he shared. Sweet, savory, and loaded with hoisin-forward flavor. Soy sauce, sesame, and a touch of heat rounded things out nicely. These also came with a wasabi blue cheese dipping sauce that added a pleasant horseradish like kick. A very well-executed take on a familiar flavor profile.
Greek Freak - This one has been a favorite since we first had it on that first visit so many years ago. Buffalo sauce blended with feta and Greek yogurt sounds a little unusual on paper, but it works beautifully. The yogurt adds creaminess while the feta provides a salty tang that plays perfectly with the buffalo base. This one also pops up at TomKen's from time to time as well.
Sweet Chili Ginger Lime - Amber ordered these, and they were another winner. A little sweeter than some of the other sauces, but balanced by citrus brightness and savory umami notes. It felt like a more refined version of the sweet chili sauces you often see elsewhere.
The Verdict

The frustrating thing about Neighborhood Draft is that they're incredibly close to being one of my absolute favorite wing destinations. The sauce creativity is outstanding. The sauce execution is outstanding. Every flavor tasted exactly like the menu description suggested it would, and each brought something unique to the table. But, my few critiques aren't even about the flavors themselves. I'd love to see the ability to split orders so it's easier to sample multiple sauces. I'd also prefer the wings to be fully tossed after grilling rather than having much of the sauce served on the side. It would create a more consistent experience from wing to wing. And yes, a wing special would be nice. The wings aren't cheap, and while I understand that's not really the focus of the restaurant, it would certainly make repeat visits easier on the wallet.
Back in our original review, we awarded Neighborhood Draft a Certified rating.
After returning all these years later, I don't see any reason to change that.
These are still some of the most creative and thoughtfully crafted wing flavors you'll find anywhere in the Milwaukee area. A few small tweaks would push them toward elite territory for me, but even as-is, they're turning out excellent wings and flavors that are hard to find anywhere else. 🍗🔥
