Wing Special (as of date published): Wednesday - $1 Wings
The Review:
Magoo’s on the Mound sits right on Blue Mound Avenue, nestled among that familiar cluster of bars best known for shuttling Brewers fans to and from American Family Field. On game days, it’s all about pregame energy, on this cold December Wednesday, it was all about wings.
Wednesday is wing night at Magoo’s, and the deal is a good one: $1 wings (was $0.75 at the date of our visit, but has increased prior to publishing this review) with a minimum of just four wings per sauce. That makes it easy to sample around, which is exactly what we did. Regular pricing is about $13.50 per order, right in line with the current wing economy. It is worth noting that Magoo's is very strict on a rule of not taking home any leftovers, so, don't order more than you plan to eat!  As always, prices/availability of menu items/prices and/or specials are subject to change at the sole discretion of the bar without the knowledge of Milwaukeewings.com and may not be updated accordingly.
The wings ranged from average to quite large. Sometimes I don't actually care for "jumbo" wings as they can be, for lack of a better word, weird. But these wings were big, juicy, flavorful wings with nicely crisped skin and a bit of char. The cook appears to be a fry-then-grill approach, giving you crunch plus that backyard grill kiss of flavor. A few wings leaned a little heavy on the char, but overall the chicken quality was excellent and carried plenty of flavor even before sauce entered the conversation.
Magoo’s offers a solid lineup: Bourbon Barbecue, Buffalo, Tough Guy, Honey Sriracha, Garlic Parm, Maple Mustard, Teriyaki Habanero, Nashville Hot, plus Creole and Barbecue dry rubs. Ranch and blue cheese are both available.
Here’s what we tried:

Maple Mustard: A standout and a personal favorite. Sweet up front from the maple, followed by a tangy mustard finish with just a touch of spice. Think honey mustard’s slightly more sophisticated cousin. A unique flavor you don’t see often, and one that worked very well.
Teriyaki Habanero: I love finding a good spicy teriyaki sauce. This one had a sweet and savory teriyaki flavor with a mild habanero kick. Not nearly as spicy as the name suggests, but still flavorful. A little extra char showed up on some wings thanks to the sugary sauce, but overall, a solid option.
Tough Guy: This one announced itself the moment it hit the table. Big pepper aroma, visible seeds, and serious intent. Slightly sweet, mostly savory, with a subtle citrus note underneath. Heat builds fast and lingers. The first wing was friendly enough. By the fourth, things got real. Not face-meltingly hot, but definitely flirting with the upper end of my heat tolerance. If you like hot wings, this is a very good time.
Buffalo: Tasty, but unconventional. A bit sweet, a bit savory, mildly spicy, and not what most would call a traditional buffalo. It stands on its own, but buffalo purists may find it confusing.
Bourbon Barbecue: A pleasant surprise. The bourbon flavor came through clearly and helped balance the sweetness and smoke of the barbecue. Even as someone who doesn’t usually chase BBQ wings, this one earned my respect.
Milwaukee Wings Crew Favorites:
Frank - Maple Mustard
Amber - Bourbon BBQ
Molly - Maple Mustard
Overall
Magoo’s on the Mound lands comfortably in Certified Wing Joint territory. The chicken itself was the star of the show, and the Wednesday night pricing makes it an easy return visit. Sauce consistency could be tightened up a bit, and opinions at the table varied (Amber was less impressed), though she’ll admit she was in a picky mood that night. Even with a recent price increase the Wednesday night special is a good deal for wings of this size and quality, it’s absolutely worth stopping in for some wings. Add in bingo nights and a packed weekly event schedule, and Magoo’s also earns the Fun Times Badge without much debate. Not a destination wing pilgrimage, but a very solid neighborhood wing night with good value, good vibes, and some legitimately fun flavors.
