The Review:

Sometimes when the highway is a bit too busy, I take a drive Lisbon Rd to get home from work. And each time I do, I'm amazed and the sheer number of cars at this bar on like a Monday at 4:30pm. When a bar has more cars than it does parking spaces, they must be doing something right, so we decided to pay them a visit and check out their wings!

As expected, the place was pretty full for a Tuesday evening, and I can see why, this was a pretty neat bar! With lots of TVs, games, and some sort of raffle/giveaway happening, seems like there is a little something for everyone at the Social Haus.

As of the date of this review, The Social Haus has no weekly wing special. An order of wings will run you $11, or $12 if you want them grilled, and each order will get you about 7 or 8 wings. *As always, prices/availability of menu items/prices and/or specials are subject to change at the sole discretion of the bar without the knowledge of Milwaukeewings.com and may not be updated accordingly.*

The wings themselves were generously sized with the smallest ones still being a bit above average size. We ordered most of our wings simply fried but did opt for the grilling on one of the flavors. The fried wings were crispy, yet juicy, and the grilled wings added that nice bit of charred taste that pairs well with sweeter sauces. The wings are tossed in your choice from their nine sauces: BBQ, Nashville Hot, Garlic Parmesan, Buffalo, Wasabiaki, Mango Habanero, Sweet Red Chili, Korean BBQ, or Kickin' Bourbon.

With one sauce per order, we got to enjoy five sauces during our visit:

Buffalo: I felt this one was a bit off the mark for a Buffalo sauce. It had the buttery element I'm looking for, but otherwise was a bit peppery and lacked the tangy vinegar flavor and cayenne pepper heat I want in a traditional Buffalo. Wasn't a bad flavor, just not quite what I expected.

Kickin' Bourbon: Sticky and sweet (albeit not too sweet) balanced with some savory notes, this sauce was a bit reminiscent of sweet and sour sauce.

Garlic Parmesan: Fantastic garlic parm sauce, super rich buttery flavor with a big punch of garlic flavor with salty and savory flavors from the Parmesan, this was my personal favorite. One of the better garlic parmesan wings I've had anywhere.

Wasabiaki: A blend of teriyaki and wasabi flavors, not sure I've ever seen that as a wing flavor, creative for sure! The thick and sticky sauce has sweet and savory notes combined with a bit of horseradish like heat from the wasabi (which was likely horseradish as real wasabi is quite uncommon). A fun and unique sauce!

Korean BBQ: Sweet with that ultra savory Korean BBQ flavor, this is the flavor we opted to get grilled, and the sweet sauce caramelized well with the grilling for a bit of a flavor boost.

The MKE Wings Crew's Favorites:

Frank: Garlic Parmesan

Amber: Kickin' Bourbon and Wasabiaki

Jeremy: Garlic Parmesan and Korean BBQ

Conclusion:

For me, the star of the show was that Garlic Parm, and I really liked the uniqueness of the Wasabiaki flavor. Is this a Hall of Fame Wing Joint? No, while good, these aren't wings I'm going to go out of my way for. But for a pretty solid wings and a fun place, we can happily declare them a Certified Wing Joint!
