The Review:

  • Chicken Quality: Cooked very well, crisp outside while remaining moist inside, the texture could have been a little better as a couple of my wings were a little stringy.  However, overall a very good wing and a good sized wing at that.
  • Sauce Variety: A simply astounding 21 different sauces and dry rubs: Mild Buffalo, Garlic Buffalo, Medium Buffalo, Hot Buffalo, Super Hot Buffalo, Insanity Buffalo, Stupid Hot Buffalo, Honey BBQ, Boneyard BBQ, Traditional BBQ, Spicy BBQ, Caribbean Jerk, Spicy Jerk, Dry Jerk, Dry Garlic Peppercorn, Honey Roasted Garlic, Teriyaki, Honey Mustard, Mango Habanera, Apricot Chipotle Mustard, Asian, Dry Cajun
  • Sauce Quality:
    • Apricot Chipotle – I didn’t try this one, but my wingman Ryan did.  Not the strongest of flavor, but definitely a interesting flavor combining sweet and heat.
    • Dry Peppercorn Garlic – Like the Apricot, I did not have the opportunity to try this, but my wingman Ryan did.  He reports not too much flavor with this one, more or less a plain wing in his opinion.
    • Buffalo Garlic – Good traditional Buffalo flavor with a hint of garlic.  I’d like the garlic flavor to be more pronounced because I really love my garlic, but a good taste nevertheless.  Not all too spicy, just enough heat to give it some zip.
    • Super Hot Buffalo – Traditional Buffalo wing flavor with a high level of heat behind it.  This wing is right around my threshold for pain, after a few wings they really caught up to you and make you feel a bit uneasy due to the heat, but nothing I couldn’t handle.
    • Honey Garlic – More of a honey taste here than a garlic taste, a little too sweet for my tastes, but good for what it is, also works nice as a contrast to a spicier flavor.
    • Dry Cajun – normally I’m not a big fan of a dry rub, but I really like Cajun seasoning and this was very tasty.
    • Stupid Hot – Beware!  The hottest sauce on their menu is EXTREMELY hot.  Seriously, this is right up there with the hottest wings I’ve ever had, any more than one of these would be incapacitating… check that, one wing had me reaching for some milk a buddy of mine ordered.  Wingman Josh Walter tried this one too; afterwards he said “that sauce made me want to stab a child on Christmas Eve.”  I would not recommend this for casual eating, but if you’re looking to win a bet or something, go for it!
    • ****On a revisit to the Boneyard I had to say the sauces did not wow me as much as the first trip, they seemed a bit blander and nothing really stood out, may flavors tasted too similar.  As such, I have lowered their score in this area just a bit as of 3/13/2012.
  • Sides Quality: Served with celery and your choice of ranch or bleu cheese.  I really liked the bleu cheese, nice and creamy with a good bleu cheese taste, also, very generous amount of dressings served in wide mouth containers for easy wing dunking!
  • Value: Normal menu price is very average.  Two nights to get a deal: Tuesdays for $0.35 wings and Thursdays for $0.75 boneless wings!

The Final Score:

Chicken Quality: 8/10
Sauce Quality: 7/10
Sauce Variety: 5/5
Sides Quality: 5/5
Value: 3/3

Overall: 28/33 = 85
